Members of NASA’s Global Modeling and Assimilation Office (GMAO) joined many other attendees in Boston, Massachusetts for the 100th Annual Meeting of the American Meteorological Society (AMS). It was a busy week of speaker panels, poster sessions and Hyperwall presentations.

The 2020 Annual Meeting of AMS was the official conclusion to the year-long celebration of its 100th anniversary. The week started with its annual WeatherFest, an event open to the public with exhibits that covered all things weather, water, and climate. On Monday, the program began in earnest, with panel discussions, presentations, poster sessions, and an active exhibit hall. To recognize the AMS anniversary, historical instruments were on display.

To keep with the meteorology theme, the mid-January weather played a major role during the conference—the temperatures started the week at 71° F and finished at 29° F.

GMAO members made an important contribution to these activities through presentations and poster sessions. (PDF versions of the posters can be found at https://gmao.gsfc.nasa.gov/pubs/index.php?sel=posters&yr=2020.) In addition, GMAO members Emma Knowland, Gary Partyka, and Bill Putman joined other NASA representatives with talks at the Hyperwall, hosted by the NASA Earth Sciences booth in the Exhibit Hall.
