08.19.2008 - GEOS-5 - CloudSat Intercomparisons

A new study utilizes global analyses of the atmosphere obtained from the new GEOS-5 Data Assimilation System (DAS) developed for GMAO's Modern-Era Retrospective analysis for Research and Applications (MERRA) to examine the relationships between cloud parameters observed by the CloudSat satellite and predictors of convective cloud structure derived from MERRA re-analyses.

02.13.2008 - GMAO Supports ARCTAS Campaign in Spring/Summer 2008

The Arctic Research of the Composition of the Troposphere from Aircraft and Satellites (ARCTAS) campaign took place during the Spring and Summer of 2008. The GMAO, in collaboration with SIVO, The Atmospheric Chemistry and Dynamics Branch,and NCCS provided chemical forecast support for aiding flight planning and data analysis in the field.

02.13.2008 - MERRA User's Group Endorses Production

The MERRA External User Group has requested that GMAO proceed with MERRA production after discussing the results of recent validation experiments at the Group's November 2007 meeting. Production began at the end of January 2008.
