It is possible to get to Palermo from the airport by bus or train at least until 23:00, but the last train for Cefalù leaves from Palermo central station around 20:45

To Cefalu By Bus:

SAIS, Via Balsamo 20, in Palermo (tel. 091-6171141), runs buses between Palermo and Cefalù, charging 6€ ($7.80) one-way for the 1 1/2-hour trip. There are only three bus runs a day from Palermo to Cefalù - SAIS Trasporti Palermo-Cefalù at 13.00, 14.30, 18.30.

You will have to go to the central station from the airport (by bus,train-metro or taxi).
By bus: When you exit the arrival hall at the airport, turn right, walk about 50 meters, and you'll see the airport bus stop. The bus is called 'Prestia e Comande', takes about 35 minutes, is around 6 Euros each Prestia e Comande
The rail connection from PMO is under construction and is not running at this time.

Trains to Cefalu:

The train from Palermo costs €4.70 and takes one hour running right along the coast.
No need to book in advance...most of these are local trains that can't be reserved. You must buy your ticket before boarding the train (at a newsstand or other kiosk) and validate it at a machine on the platform that will stamp the date and time.
There are two main types of train service in Sicily: national trains (Eurostar and InterCity) and local trains (Diretto, Espresso, and Interegionale). Eurostar and InterCity trains usually are faster than the slower Diretto, Espresso, and Interegionale trains, as they stop at every almost station. All long distance and local trains stop at Cefalu.

The Cefalu station is at the intersection of Via Aldo Moro and Via G. Giglio, three blocks from the hotel. From the station, walk along Via G. Giglio to the intersection at Via Roma, cross the street to the Via San Pasquale and proceed for two blocks to Lungomare Guiseppe Giardina. The hotel is located on the left at the intersection with Lungomare Guiseppe Giardina.
