The GMAO Celebrates Spring with a Party!

Originally scheduled in early January, the GMAO Holiday Party was postponed due to the extended government shutdown. In an effort not to miss a good party, it was rescheduled to April 11 and re-branded as the GMAO Spring Picnic Party!
The party was held at the Barney & Bea Recreation Center on the campus of Goddard Space Flight Center, with plenty of space to enjoy the party indoors and out. The catered main courses from Mission BBQ were accompanied by sides and a variety of tasty desserts provided by members of the GMAO team. Flowers and spring decorations adorned the classic red checkerboard tablecloths to complete the seasonal theme.
Some attendees took advantage of a special ‘selfie-frame’ to snap some photos of themselves with costume props, while others played a few challenging rounds of a cornhole lawn game outside in the spring air.
The event was also an opportunity to celebrate the retirement of Shirley Hawkins, who had a long career with the government and the GMAO. Her retirement began during the government shutdown and because of this we were not able to give her a proper celebration. She enjoyed the picnic and received a framed staff photo signed by members of the GMAO team, presented by Steve Cohn.
