GMAO at Goddard’s 2017 Science Jamboree

07.19.2017

Once a year many of Goddard Space Flight Center’s different departments and missions come together to exhibit their latest research and discoveries. This year’s Science Jamboree was held on Wednesday, July 12 in Building 28. Each of the building’s wings had a different theme: Earth Science Division, Astrophysics Science Division, Solar System Exploration Division and Applied Engineering and Technology Directorate. Even though the summer sun was sweltering outside, crowds of employees, families and other visitors enjoyed the air-conditioned environment indoors while they interacted with other employees to learn about all the important work being done at Goddard.

At the Global Modeling and Assimilation Office (GMAO) table, in the Earth Science wing, visitors got a sneak peek of an outreach product in development, the Data Cube, which provides six examples of MERRA-2 data products. Visitors were also able to view a 15-minute presentation featuring highlighted GMAO research.

A big thank you goes to Robin Kovach, Yury Vikhliaev, Abhisheck Chatterjee, Min-Jeong Kim, Gary Partyka, Christoph Keller, Allie Collow, Emma Knowland, Mara Fuentes, Brent Smith, Sterling Spangler and Heather Weir for spending time interacting with all the attendees who stopped by the table to learn more about the GMAO!
