Seminar Title: Applications of coupled bred vectors to ocean data assimilation and its impact on seasonal-to-interannual forecasting

Coupled bred vectors (BVs), generated from the NASA/GMAO coupled general circulation model (CGCM), are designed to capture the uncertainties related to slowly varying coupled instabilities. In this talk, we will discuss applications of the BVs for the purpose of improving seasonal-to-interannual climate prediction. We will first assess the performance of the ensemble forecasting initialized from the coupled BVs. Also, we will discuss their application to ocean data assimilation and address the impact of such analysis in predicting the 2006 El Ni
