************************* Idealized SST experiments ************************* The idealized SST experiments and AMIP runs listed under this directory are performed by the Climate Prediction Center (CPC) of the National Center for Environmental Prediction (NCEP), using the NCEP GFS. Each of the idealized runs lasts 37 years. The first year serves as the spinup. The data are downloaded from CPC ftp site: login as anonymous to ftp.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov, then cd to schemm/drought. The select variables are monthly mean precip, t2m, SST, soil moisture (total 2m depth), latent heat, 200mb height and u-wind and 850mb u- and v-winds. The datasets are written in GRIB format and corresponding GrADS control and index files are also included.
