UOI Experiments and Analysis: XBTTS

Begin Main Content

XBTT experiment assimilates the Temperature from XBT, TAO, PIRATA and ARGO profiles. This assimilation is started from ocean state and assimilated for 3 months to present. The restarts are used for coupled model forecast in combination with atmospheric and land restarts.

XBTTS experiment assimilates the Temperature from XBT, TAO, PIRATA and ARGO profiles. Salinity is assimilated from ARGO. Synthetic salinity is computed and assimilated at each TAO, XBT and PIRATA locations from the Levitus climatology preserving the T-S relationship. T and S are assimilated seperately using univeraiate OI scheme. This assimilation is started from ocean state and assimilated from 1993-presesnt. The restarts are used for ensemble 19 to initialise the coupled model forecast.
