Unprecedented Wildfires in the Pacific Northwest Engulf the Region in Smoke

Via NASA's Scientific Visualization Studio: "This visualization reveals the extensive transport of smoke from Pacific Northwest wildfires from mid-July to August 5, 2026. Tan to deep red colors represent wildfire smoke intensity, estimated by Brown Carbon Aerosol Optical Depth (AOD) using NASA's high-resolution Goddard Earth Observing System Convection Allowing Model (GEOS-CAM), developed by the Global Modeling and Assimilation Office (GMAO)."
