"Maintenance, validation, and improvement of the NASA AMSR-E SWE product"
Presentation at the Microwave Land Hydrology Workshop, Oxnard, CA, USA, 2008.

Abstract:
Results are reported regarding a validation effort of the updated product obtained by comparing satellite-derived quantities with those measured on ground by automatic weather stations and during different field campaigns. Update on the maintenance of the product are reported as well together with results from studies regarding atmospheric correction, improvements related to dynamic coefficients and surface temperature correction. In particular, the effect of atmosphere during both clear and cloud sky conditions is quantified over two selected test sites and an example of these effects over the continental United States for a selected period is discussed; the possibility of improving the product by means of spatio-temporal dynamic coefficients is investigated, by means of combined ground-based data and land surface model results; the potential effect of normalizing brightness temperature over surface temperature derived from the combination of AMSR-E channels on SWE retrieval is discussed.
