ODASI Consortium Exeriments

Two assimilation schemes are used as a contribution to the ODASI Consortium.

The Troccoli and Haines scheme (T) relies on model T-S relationships to correct salinity after temperature profiles are assimilated so as to maintain the stability of water column. This scheme cannot correct the bias in the model T-S relationship.

The TS scheme uses the simultaneous assimilation of temperature observations and climatological salinity profiles to ensure that the T-S relations will conform to observed climatology, therefore model T-S bias is corrected as a result.

Results from the ODASI Experiments

Surface Salinity
Surface Zonal Velocity
Surface Salinity Difference
