MERRA: MODERN-ERA RETROSPECTIVE ANALYSIS FOR RESEARCH AND APPLICATIONS
External Users Group
In 2006, a group of reanalysis users was formed to advise the GMAO on MERRA. The group was tasked with reviewing output variables, formats and accessibility for functionality. In addition, the group reviewed the GMAO validation experiments and results. In November of 2007, the group convened at NASA GSFC and found that, while the MERRA system was not perfect,it represented an improvement over existing reanalyses, and was ready to go forward with data production. With that meeting the group fulfilled its objective. This page acknowledges the efforts of the external review group and the time they spent leading up to MERRA production.
